GMC in brand new location for 2010!

The ACC is pleased to announce that the General Mountaineering Camp (GMC) will be held in a new location in 2010.
The Battle Brook area is south of Rogers Pass and west of Battle Abbey in the southern Selkirk mountains.
Basecamp will be surrounded by numerous glaciers that house the area's major peaks including Wheeler (3336m/11,110'), Grand (3287m/10,784'), Kilpatrick (3224m/10,577') and Purity (3149m/10,331'), along with many others.

2009 FQME awards

On October 23, at the TAFF, the 2009 FQME awards have been handed out. The 3 prizes aim to underline the different efforts of individuals or groups of person.
The Claude Lavall�e award is handed to a group that distinguished itself for its community contribution.
The Yves Laforest award highlights the performance of a climber in Quebec or abroad.
And, finally, the golden bolt is awarded to a personality in the development of climbing in Quebec.

On Saturday, October 24th, members of the Alpine Club of Canada will be participating with the 350 Canmore Climate Crusaders, drawing attention to the threat that climate change poses to Canada's mountain regions.
Activities to take place in Canmore are part of a world-wide day of action organized by 350.org, an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis.
October 24th will see more than 1,500 actions in 127 countries."

Other then the local comps already organized by the different gyms, and the popular Tour de Bloc, the FQME is listing 5 Quebec Cup events plus a provincial Championship.
