Why do we even need a custodian?
Well, we want to make sure Keene Farm stays the way we know it, and that needs some supervision.
What’s in it for me?
We know well that being custodian at Keene Farm involves a bit of work, not much: Socializing with other parties staying over, making sure payment is received from everyone, taking care so that the hut does not burst into flames and that it is well locked when we all leave again the beautiful Adirondacks…
We want thank you for your volunteering.
When agreeing upon reservation request to be custodian, YOUR STAY WILL BE FREE!
Please note that the following conditions apply to this offer, you only qualify for a free stay:
if you accept to be custodian upon reservation request
it's an option in the reservation form
if
there are at least 5 people staying at the hut that night (that are not part of your party)
otherwise you would be mainly taking care of yourself,
we believe you can do that without any special discount

Please note that only the custodian gets the night free, not his friends, partner, kids, dog, cat nor any other important member joining the custodian-party.
We need only one custodian per night, it's not that much work after all
Thanks for being a custodian for the weekend. Your main duties will be to open the hut on Friday evening, welcome guests, be sure
they have all the information they need, take care of the stove and propane equipment, collect the money, close the hut on Sunday

Compare the license plates registered in the log books (the one inside and the one in the wood box on the porch) with those in the parking lot and remind people who hasn’t paid upon arrival that they have to do so (Saturday evening)
Check that all food has been taken and no garbage is remaining
Clean the loft, the living room and the kitchen (minimal since guests clean after themselves and help)
Wipe all house tables and counter surfaces
