The Montreal Section is one of 17 regional sections that make up the Alpine Club of Canada, Canada's National Mountaineering organization. We welcome all those who enjoy and love to recreate in the mountains.
Whether you like to climb cliffs, frozen waterfalls, mountains, hike, backcountry ski or perhaps have an interest in preserving the mountain environment, the Montreal Section encourages you to join us. We are a club suitable for members of all ages and abilities.
Whether you are a newcomer to mountain sports or if you have many years of experience, join the Alpine Club for fun, new friends, and adventures. A view from the Keene Farm Ledges
Throughout the year the Section offers a program of activities schedules. As well as these schedules activities, there are frequent informal outings organized from Keene Farm or the Ski House which all are welcome to participate in.
Members have access to Keene Farm, a 105 acre property of woodland and meadow located in the heart of the Adirondacks High Peaks Region. Members are welcome to stay in the cabin or camp in the meadow.
During the winter the Club rents a house in a town north of Montreal in the heart of the Laurentides.
The section publishes a newsletter twice per yearly. It has accounts of recent adventures and exploits, news and information about upcoming events and camps, the activities/outings schedule and course list.
Training courses, such as rock climbing, telemark skiing, rock rescue, winter mountaineering and wilderness first aid are often offered and generally subsidized by the club.
As a member you are warmly invited to attend our monthly “socials”. These social evenings are held at local pubs or members' homes. Members gather to enjoy slide show presentations and share stories on recent outdoors adventures. The most popular social event of the year is the section's annual B.B.Q. held at Keene Farm in September with over 120 members and their guests attending. These socials are a great opportunity to meet new people as well as old fiends who all share a common passion for the outdoors.
The Montreal Section of the ACC is a local chapter of the Alpine Club of Canada, Canada's national mountaineering organization. When you join the club you become a member of both the National ACC and a local section.
