The club's goal is to unite outdoor enthusiasts in Quebec who share a common interest for mountain activities. We organize outdoor activities and courses to improve technical, safety and leadership skills. Members can meet at one of the many social events or while enjoying the club's facilities in the Adirondacks and the Laurentides. We also commit to help promote environmentally friendly behaviors by investing in eco-funds, funding other eco-organizations and organizing eco-awareness activities. We also actively assist other associations with the maintenance of trails and climbing areas and also on the negotiation front ensuring access to them and opening new ones.

Mission Statement

We, the Alpine Club of Canada Montreal Section, provide regional support to complement the objectives, work and membership benefits of the National Club. We exist:

  1. To encourage and promote the responsible practice of recreational mountain-related activities in the Montreal area. These include activities such as mountaineering, backpacking, hiking, rock & ice climbing, cross-country, back-country, and telemark skiing, and snowshoeing.
  2. To ensure that the interests, opinions and activities of our membership are well represented and communicated to the ACC National Club.
  3. To ensure that the opportunities and activities of the ACC National Club (including outings, courses, camps, grants, awards and services) are well communicated and available to our membership.

This is accomplished:

  1. By providing access to local huts and lodges which serve as bases for year-round outdoor activities.
  2. By bringing members of similar interests together through outings, socials and courses. These activities allow our members to recreate safely, responsibly and enjoyably, to develop their technical and leadership skills, and to learn from others.
  3. By exchanging information and maintaining good working relationships with other sections, clubs, organizations and authorities who affect or share our interests.
  4. By providing opportunities to volunteer in a wide variety of areas ranging from Montreal Section Management & Activities, to Environmental Advocacy and Trail Maintenance.
